Ipswich Girls' Grammar School including Ipswich Junior Grammar School is governed by a Board of Trustees responsible for ensuring the good governance of the School and directly accountable to the Queensland Minister for Education. The day-to-day operations and leadership of the School is delegated to the Principal and Executive Management team.
Ipswich Girls' Grammar School as a statutory body was originally formed under the Grammar Schools Act 1975, until the Grammar School Act 2016 came into effect, replacing the earlier legislation with modern provisions to meet the contemporary needs of grammar schools. The Act sets out the establishment and regulation of the School, including the constitution, powers, and functions of the Board of Trustees.
Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School and Ipswich Junior Grammar School has a long proud history and tradition of providing excellence in education for the community we serve. The Notice below is to advise the School community of the election process for Board positions for the School which will be available in 2026.

Kathryn is a senior digital infrastructure and telecommunications executive with over 20 years’ experience leading large scale transformation, capital programs, and complex stakeholder environments across Australia’s digital infrastructure sector. She is currently Executive National Infrastructure Projects at Telstra InfraCo, where she oversees the delivery of multi billion dollar fibre and infrastructure programs of national significance.
Kathryn brings deep expertise in strategy, commercial governance, risk management, and major project delivery, with a strong track record of negotiating and executing long term government and enterprise partnerships. She has held multiple executive leadership roles across Telstra, including responsibility for P&L management, asset optimisation, and enterprise customer portfolios exceeding $1 billion in annual revenue. Kathryn is also a member of Telstra’s Executive Leadership Team and is recognised for her strong governance mindset, collaborative leadership style, and commitment to inclusive, high performing organisations.
A Chartered Accountant, Kathryn has served as a Trustee of Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School since September 2024 and was appointed Chair of the Board in March 2025. She is an Old Girl of Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School, where she served as a Prefect and Deputy Head Girl in 1989.

Sophie is an experienced non executive director with a strong record of governance leadership across the not for profit sector, supported by formal qualifications from the Australian Institute of Company Directors and The University of Queensland. She is also an accomplished commercial and corporate lawyer with significant experience across government, complex commercial contracting, corporate governance, technology, major projects and regulatory matters.
Sophie is a proud Old Girl (2004-2015) of the School, and is passionate about paying forward the limitless opportunities that her education at the School has given her. She currently also lives in Ipswich and is deeply committed to the School's role in the wider Ipswich community. Sophie is recognised for her contemporary governance perspective, strategic leadership and ability to navigate complex issues with clarity, integrity and a strong commitment to the School's values and vision.

Kerry is an accomplished project director with a distinguished track record in professional advisory roles and executive project management. Kerry’s expertise encompasses a broad spectrum of commercial, financial, and legal aspects of large-scale complex projects, with a clear focus on building trust, fostering stakeholder relationships, and delivering effective, clear communication.
Kerry’s professional journey began in advisory roles having qualified as a Chartered Accountant and has evolved to senior leadership positions in major development and infrastructure projects. Currently, Kerry serves as Deputy Project Director for Downer of the Queensland Train Manufacturing Project, a role which involves strategic oversight and hands-on management to ensure delivery of the $4 billion rollingstock project.
Kerry is recognised for leading commercial and contractual negotiations across government and private sectors, developing a deep understanding of key stakeholder requirements from both risk and commercial return perspectives.
A passionate advocate of the lifelong benefits of education, and the privilege it is to be afforded the opportunity to learn in an environment that supports success and diversity in both academic and co-curricular pursuits, Kerry is an Old Girl of Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School, where she served as a Prefect in her final year.

Fabian Carniel is an accomplished executive and non‑executive director with more than 30 years of leadership experience across the agribusiness sector, including food production, supply chain management and international trade. He has held senior roles within Q100 companies and brings deep expertise in corporate governance, strategic planning, organisational transformation and operational oversight.
Fabian served as Chief Executive Officer of Mulgowie Farming Company for over a decade, leading the organisation through significant strategic development and expansion. He has also contributed his expertise through various director and advisory positions, with particular strengths in commercial transactions, risk management, sustainability and governance.
Fabian has enjoyed a long and proud association with Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School, with his three daughters attending the School over the past decade. He is deeply committed to supporting the Board in ensuring IGGS continues to thrive as an iconic institution, providing exceptional education and opportunities for generations of students to come.

I’m responsible for driving strategic growth, operational performance, and product innovation ensuring we deliver exceptional outcomes for both employers looking to engage early talent and students launching their careers.
Alongside his role at SEEK, Mitch serves as Board Chair for YouTurn, a not-for-profit organisation delivering early intervention and support services in the areas of mental health, child safety and homelessness. YouTurn also operates StandBy – Support After Suicide, Australia’s leading national program providing coordinated, compassionate care to individuals, families, and communities bereaved or impacted by suicide. Together, these programs work to create safer, more connected communities and empower people to rebuild their lives.

Madeleine is an experienced Brisbane based litigation lawyer practising in complex commercial and dispute resolution matters. Madeleine advises corporations and individuals on their rights, risk and regulatory issues across all state and federal jurisdictions.
Madeleine brings to the Board an ability to exercise judgment in decision making and experience at the negotiating table.
Madeleine is passionate about strategic leadership and the strategic role the Board plays in contributing to and supporting young people and girls through education and opportunity. Madeleine is a proud Old Girl having attended the Junior and Senior schools and was one of the Head Girls in 2013. During her time at the School Madeleine was a keen sportswoman and represented the School at a state and national level. Madeleine was appointed as a Trustee in September 2024

Mattthew has a background in project finance, project management and property development spanning a broad range of industries including education, residential, commercial, mining accommodation, student accommodation and public spaces. Based on his passion for the development of community assets that positively impact their community, Matthew leads Hammond & Neale, a project management firm who specialise in the delivery of community assets. In this role Matthew has over 15 years of experience in the delivery of projects within the independent school sector. In addition to his role as Project Director, he is responsible for managing corporate governance, strategic, compliance and financial matters.
Matthew has a long affiliation in working with independent schools to obtain funding via the Block Grant Authority, and regularly speaks at conferences and to boards regarding the status of the Queensland construction industry and the delivery of projects. As a Certified Practising Project Director, member of the Australian Institute of Project Management and QBCC licenced project manager, Matthew has worked with clients in a broad range of industries for projects ranging in value from several hundred thousand dollars to $150 million. He utilises his skills to guide projects from concept to handover and to solve complex problems, manage teams in dynamic situations, and achieve timely and efficient project outcomes. With a long history of involvement within community organisations in Ipswich, Matthew was appointed as a Trustee of Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School in March 2026.

Bronwyn is a Clinical Psychologist with 30years experience working in clinical, operational and governance positions in both the private and public health sectors. With a Master of Clinical Psychology from the University of Queensland, Bronwyn is a leader and advanced clinician within paediatric services for Queensland Health in West Moreton. She has worked in regional and rural locations as well as the Queensland Children’s Hospital and Mater Health Services. She was a member of the Queensland Children’s Hospital master planning team.
Bronwyn is passionate about effective governance with the goal of providing excellent and effective services for children and young people. Bronwyn works with Universities across the country in educating health professionals. She is the author of treatment manuals for the management of paediatric ADHD and was part of a select team to create state-wide guidelines for the management of paediatric diabetes. Bronwyn is a published researcher and continues to engage in research in a range of areas including child maltreatment, trauma-informed education and school based mental health programs.
Drawing on her three decades of clinical, operational and governance experience, Bronwyn has extensive knowledge of the strategic positioning of services to meet the emotional, social, cognitive, and developmental needs of children and adolescents. This includes the role quality education plays in the lives of children and adolescents and the broader impact that quality and innovative education has on a community.
Bronwyn has served as a Trustee of Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School including Ipswich Junior Grammar School since 2022. Bronwyn is a proud Old Girl of Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School.

Anthony is an experienced economist specialising in transport, social infrastructure and policy evaluation. With qualifications in Economics and Business Management (Human Resources) from the University of Queensland, Anthony has worked across the public and private sectors delivering rigorous, evidence‑based advice to support major investment and policy decisions. He now leads a cost‑benefit analysis and investment prioritisation team who undertake work across transport, health, technology, sport, culture and the arts.
Anthony is passionate about strong governance, clear decision‑making and the role high‑quality economic analysis plays in shaping better outcomes for communities. His work focuses on developing cohesive, data‑driven narratives that help governments and organisations understand trade‑offs, manage risk and align investments with long‑term strategic objectives. Anthony has contributed to major infrastructure business cases and policy initiatives across Queensland and nationally, and has been recognised through industry awards for his work on flood risk management and infrastructure resilience.
Alongside his professional role, Anthony is actively involved in community and cultural governance. He is a member of the Ipswich Arts Advisory Group, providing strategic advice to Ipswich City Council on arts, culture and the creative economy. He also serves on the Old Boys’ Committee of Ipswich Grammar School, contributing to the ongoing engagement and stewardship of the School community. Most importantly, he is a father of two, both of which attend the School.
