Pride can be defined as a feeling of deep satisfaction derived from one's own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired.
With this definition in mind, as Head Girls we are proud to announce the Senior theme for 2013. “Be proud, be blue, we are coming!"
This theme can be applied to every aspect of an IGGS girl’s schooling life, from sport, to music, art, drama and academics. An IGGS girl should be proud of where she comes from, who she is and what she is a part of.
When one is proud of the school they attend automatically they have a good attitude. This year as Seniors we aim to bring out that school spirit in every student. We encourage all girls to get involved, always give 100% when representing our school and to not be afraid to cheer their hearts out when supporting fellow students, because that is what being a Grammar Girl is all about.
An IGGS uniform is the symbol of our school. Not everyone has the opportunity to wear one, but those who do, wear it with pride, knowing that wearing it makes them a part of something much more than just a school; more a whole community. The colours of white, pale and navy blue have been worn with pride by students at this school for the past 121 years. This year we will strive to uphold these standards and the school values of diligence, excellence, respect, cooperation and teamwork, care and compassion, justice and integrity and in doing so, we will be honouring the thousands of Old Girls who have walked before us.
The motto, “We are coming”, can be used in any facet of school throughout the year. We encourage everyone to apply these three words when approaching any task, whether it is school assignments, QGSSSA events or even music, art and drama showcases. As a school in 2013 let’s be proud and in our blue, show that we are a force to be reckoned with, because we are coming.
