Ipswich Junior Grammar School’s Early Education Centre (EEC) is a co-educational community of inspiration and engagement that caters to the needs of students in Kindergarten and Pre-Prep.
The EEC adopts the Reggio Emilia approach to teaching young children, which places the natural development of children as well as the close relationships that they share with their environment at the center of its philosophy.
Qualified and committed staff deliver a play-based curriculum program that is relevant to the children’s interests and developmental needs, focusing on social and personal learning, health and physical development, language and communication, early mathematical understandings and active learning processes.
The children are integral to the running of the Centre and play a role in planning and executing the day’s activities and identifying topics of interest to explore. The result is an atmosphere of community and collaboration that fosters respect, responsibility and a love of learning.
Offering a supportive and enriching environment, the EEC also enables younger children to reap the benefits of the extensive facilities, resources and events available across the wider Ipswich Girls’ and Junior Grammar School campus.
Children have access to the School’s gymnasium, Assembly Hall, library, natural play space and rainforest walk, and Health Centre staffed by a qualified nurse.
Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are provided daily, with a tasty and nutritious menu freshly prepared on-site by a qualified chef.
Specialist teachers from Junior Grammar also provide Music, Library and Physical Education lessons, whilst a formal transition program in Term 4 for children moving on to Prep at Junior Grammar facilitates a smooth, happy and exciting start to School life.
